So I finally think I am going to start this blog business. I have been thinking about it for a while as a way to communicate ideas and thoughts that I have because I wonder if others feel the same way. It is meant to be more of an open forum and discussion rather than a "I know everything" type of blog. I am actually shocked I am going through with it because I used to hate the fact that any average Joe could post an opinion (often ill informed and not thought out) on the web and be heard. This is not the direction that I hope this blog takes at all.
I learned very quickly with my experience being a basketball manager that there are always multiple sides to every story, and what actually happens is usually never disclosed. Thus, I beg of anyone that reads this and comments, please do not try and attack or ridicule any readers or comments. If you have an educational response that is well thought out, than feel free to post, if not, I doubt your comments will ever be approved by me.
The title of Common Sense is Free is one of my favorite moto's to live by in life. Too often we don't use our god given intelligence to think for ourselves. Instead we would rather be stuck in a world built on dogma and never question why. However, I also believe that we are a sum of our parts and experiences. So what seems like common sense to me, may not have been noticed by one reader, and may seem elementary to the other. Yet this is ok! Actually, this is wonderful because it's what makes us all different and what gives us all a unique voice. By being able to share our experiences, knowledge, and insight in a common place, we might all learn something from each other. That is the hope for this blog, whether it has fifty readers or thousands, if one person learns something from it than it is worth the time.
One final note. Although I loved grammar while I was growing up (because I was a nerd that liked anything with set rules, thanks Mrs. Leach and Mrs. Archer!), this is meant to be more of a stream of consciousness. I intend to keep it professional, but it will not have seventeen drafts before it is published with every word critiqued. In a world that moves faster than it ever has, being filled with more information than ever before, sometimes being complete is better than being perfect.
Hope you enjoy!
Cory
Too often we don't use our god given intelligence to think for ourselves...could not agree more. In fact, I said to someone this week, "I feel like a lot in life is logical...people just decide to jump off the boat before they realized they didn't want to swim. If you don't want to swim, then don't jump!" It goes back to a good Coach Quinn saying, "think before you act, son." Simply thinking will lead you in the right direction more times than not. You have a reader...can't wait to hear more...
